I believe in the power of connection to heal, and I’m passionate about collaborating with people like you – to help you feel seen, uncover the reasons for your struggles, and help you feel better. We all possess inherent strengths and courage, and I aim to help you harness and build upon these qualities to live your best possible life. Together, we can work towards greater control over your life, leading to increased happiness, confidence, and fulfillment.
I bring warmth, relatability, and empathy to the therapeutic relationship. Using trauma-informed, attachment-based, and systemic approaches, I strive to understand the external factors contributing to your struggles and help you navigate through them. My specific approaches include Eye Movement Desensitzation and Reprocessing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Play Therapy, including Theraplay. I am also trained in postpartum mood and anxiety disorders and perinatal loss and grief.
With 15 years of experience, I have worked with children, youth, families, and adults with diverse needs in various settings, including inpatient and community mental health treatment, residential group care, foster care, child welfare, and in-home and school-based support.
I have a Master of Social Work with a clinical specialization. I have extensive training related to trauma, attachment, and supporting children and youth with concerns such as anxiety, anger and aggression, self-esteem, and attachment/caregiver disruptions. I also have specialized training in perinatal mental health and am a Certified Canadian Perinatal Mental Health provider. I have training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), solution-focused therapy, play-based therapy (including Theraplay). I am committed to ongoing education related to trauma treatment and anti-oppressive practice.
I have experienced and worked through my own trauma, relationship difficulties, anxiety, grief, and life transitions including relationships, parenthood, and career changes. I am a work in progress, and I engage in ongoing mental health practices, including seeing my own therapist as needed.
